Blessed Sacrament Fathers
The Blessed Sacrament Fathers (Societas Sanctissimi Sa- cramenti: in abbreviation s.s.s.) have been entrusted with the care of the chapel of the Beguinage.
This congregation has been established in Paris in 1856 by Pierre Julien Eymard. He found out how much the love of God comes to us in the Eucharist and how this Eucharist nourishes this love in us. At the same time it incites us to return this love by a life of love of God and the fellowmen.
This view determines the life’s of the Fathers of the Holy Sa- crament. They live in communities, which put the celebration of the Eucharist in the centre of their lives as the expression of thanks to God for his fidelity to mankind and thanks as well to Jesus, who, up to the end, gave himself to us.
They also live up to this gratitude in a prayer of silent ado- ration near the Signs of the proximity of Jesus. From that source they work in order to create a vivid and faithful com- munity.
Blessed Sacrament Fathers are devoted to God as well as people. The Amsterdam community is next-door the presbytery: Nieuwezijds Voorburgwal 371 b.
